HSBC – cool (or should that be hot) environmental/ CSR efforts

I am really impressed with HSBC’s efforts to reduce its impact on the environment by using the heat from its datacentre to heat a swimming pool.  This is a clear example of how a company can begin to offset its carbon footprint by merely looking at its current business operations.  This is what corporate citizenship efforts should be incorporating.  Most large companies have datacentres – there is nothing stopping them from using heat exchangers to use the heat to heat buildings for example.

Admittedly the HSBC datacentre is massive and costing £300 million, but the principle remains.
